This pattern from the series has a slight variation depending on where you take the pattern. I’m afraid my tying of it is not perfect as the few amherst fibers are lost in the wing, they should be tied more as shoulders/horns. But the difference in patterns that I compare from Wanhat Suomalaiset Lohiperhot (Syrjänen & Kanerva 1993) and later magazine article by Kanerva in Perhokalastus 4/2016 ,which I consider the leading authorities in the subject, regards the body either made of three or two different colors of seals fur mixed together. Other pattern leaves the white out of the body. Not a big difference but one I thought should be noted. Also the later article states that this has been sometimes tied without a rib. As with most patterns old and new there’s usually a lot of variation especially if the pattern has been around for a long time. It’s good to note that a published pattern is usually just one stage in the development of a fly that has been recorded.
