Hi-Vis Bomber
Salmon dry flies were the last thing on my tying list at the moment but I visited the guys at Helsinki Spey Clave and they had dyed some premium Calf tails that I’ve wanted for a long time. And those beauties shine! It was difficult to even take a photograph of the fly as the green especially was so bright it got clipped unless heavily underexposed.
I also watched Andreas Andersson work his magic on deer hair divers last week at the BFFI and had a sudden urge to spin some hair myself. Been playing with this idea on my mind for a while and now got to put it in action.
The goal was to make a mixture of an indicator and a bomber. Not that they’re typically hard to spot on the water but just to have something different from the regular color combos. If it doesn’t fool a salmon I bet it will work for late season seatrout.
