Balmoral

Named after the famous castle of the royal family in Aberdeenshire, Scotland this is a typical Dee fly pattern.

I probably used a bit too bright colors on the body as earlier patterns give black as the color in front so the dark blue should most likely be really dark. I also switched the plain cinnamon Turkey in the wing to a lighter striped “zebra”-Turkey to give it more punch.

Here’s the pattern as per Kelson, which is indeed the only one to feature the dark blue body.

Tag: Silver twist.
Tail: A topping and tippet strands.
Butt: Black herl.
Body: Green and dark blue seal’s fur, equally divided.
Ribs: Silver lace and silver tinsel.
Hackle: Black heron from green fur.
Throat: Widgeon.
Wings: Two strips of plain cinnamon turkey.
Sides: Jungle (short and dropping)
