Golden Witch
Golden Witch is a streamer by the legendary Carrie Stevens from Maine. I have some old Mustad hooks that look pretty nice on these CS flies and I’m hoping to tie more of them in the near future. I didn’t “glue” the wing feathers to sets as Carrie did because I like to think the movement will be more natural in the water this way. CS streamers were used for harling so it probably made more sense to have compact shoulders on the fly than in normal streamer fishing. I have tested both styles in regular streamer fishing but haven’t really dig in to it that deeply to have preference to either method.
For the wing hackles I used the larger feathers of a Keough #1 dry fly cape. I like the look of it though it’s not the most traditional choice.
Hook: Long shank streamer hook (6x-10x long)
Tag & rib: Flat Silver Tinsel
Body: Orange Floss
Belly: White Bucktail and White Hen
Wing: Peacock Herl and Grizzly Hackle
Sides: Tippet and Jungle Cock
Head: Black with a Red Band in the center
