Step by step Lord Iris
Preston Jennings is one of the most underrated fly designers in streamer world. His Iris series is very interesting in its use of colour and approach to designing flies. Jennings looked minnows in varying light conditions through a prism and was convinced flies should be made to imitate these findings. You can(and should) read all about it in Schmooklers Forgotten Flies book. Some of the patterns like this one can also be found in Bates’s book Streamer Fly Tying & Fishing.
